8 Habits to Become a Better Morning Person

Mornings are the foundation of you day. How you wake up and get ready really makes an impact on how the whole day will go. I know from personal experience that when things go bad before I even leave the house, everything else seems to go wrong too. Some days are like that and you just need to keep moving forward and be positive. Here are some tips to help you get up on the right side of the bed and have an amazing day!

Stay off your phone

If looking at your phone is the first thing you do in the morning, you are doing it wrong. Some studies have shown that looking at your phone less actually reduces stress and increases positivist. Looking at your phone can remind you of all the things you need to do that day or all the things you are missing out on rather than being happy and enjoying your morning. Your emails will still be there when you get to work and your friend will not be upset if you take your morning to yourself and reply to his/her text just a little later.

Eat breakfast

You have heard it before, and you are about to hear it again, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Taking time to cook something can be a good way to set up your mind set for the day. Eating healthy food will also fuel you to feel good, feel full and get you fueled to take on whatever comes your way!

Try some quick yoga or light stretching

I recently started getting up a half an hour early to do yoga. I was not sure how this was going to go but I have felt more awake and more energized throughout the day since I started doing it. The light stretching that yoga brings also helps get rid of any stiffness from sleeping all night. It is a good way to ease your mind and set intentions for the day as well.

Do not hit the snooze button

Hitting the snooze button often makes me more tired. This is because your body keeps going through sleep cycle and then you end up getting up at the wrong time in a cycle which makes you feel even worse than the first time your alarm went off. You are going to have to face the day one way or another, so get on up and get going!

Listen to some music

I find that listening to music can bring fun energy to my mornings. It is a great way to get moving and can make this time easier to get through.

Get up a few minutes early for some mediation or free time

Taking some time each morning to do something for yourself is very important. For some, this might mean actually making a good breakfast. For others this can mean taking 5 minutes to read or quietly meditate. Whatever this looks like for you, make time for it. It is a great way to get the day started.

Drink a glass of water

This can help boost your immune system and get your system flowing for the day. This will be a great way to help make sure you are staying hydrated and can even help you metabolism. Add some lemon for an extra kick in benefits and flavor!

Plan your outfit the night before

This is a time saver more than anything. But taking a decision out of the morning makes it go smoothly and seamless. Whenever I do not plan an outfit I waste so much time trying to pick something out in the morning. By setting something out the night before, I just have to get dresses and go!

To sum up all of these steps.. be mindful about your morning. Pay attention to how you feel and take the time to take care of yourself. Setting up a good morning for yourself will lead to a better attitude for the entire day.

SO I challenge you to try out all or even just a few of this tomorrow morning. Let me know how it goes!
