Hey Ya’ll! I keep getting the question of why I started my blog. So I thought why not blog about it!
So, this process started about a year ago when my mother casually said “I think you should start a blog. You are always doing something you might as well write about it... "
In that moment the seed was planted.
Immediately followed by the thought. . . I could never do that. . . who would want to read what I have to say.
I really started to wrestle with the idea when I was in Texas last summer. My blog is full of unposted blogs that I could not bring myself to share with the world. I thought it had to be perfect and consistent or I could not start it. So although I went TONS of places and tried so many new things, that “I could never do that” still had a hold of me.
Ever since I read Business Boutique, I try to live by this quote by Christy Wright:
“Once we realize that fear is normal, then we don’t have to wait until we aren’t scared to do the thing we want to do. We just do it scared.”
The day I read that, it struck me that being a positive influence, sending out inspiration and giving sound advice was more important than my fears about not wanting to judged or to put myself out there.
Every once in a while, I still have these negative thoughts about the blog. (I tend to get discouraged when I do not have a lot of readers or embarrassed when someone new in my life reads it) But I try to change that into fuel rather than let it knock me down.
I started this lifestyle blog to inspire others and to get my ideas out there. This blog is also a staple in my battle against fear. As Will Smith says, the best things in life are on the other side of fear. Personally, I plan on staying on this side. It may be harder to live like this but the reward is so much better.
And if you find yourself in a place where not even Will Smith can give you motivation and strength, do not forget that laughter is a cure-all!
