Hey everyone!
A little late on this post but better late than never, right? My next few posts will be travel inspired and include details about my escapades with my best friend Kellie! After finishing up the semester, she came down to see me in Georgia for an escape from Michigan. The link on her name takes you to her blog where you can read about her travels and adventures!
Our first trip of the week was to Savannah, Georgia! I have had an urge to head down there since I arrived in Georgia and finally had a victim to take with me. If you have not been or have not heard of Savannah, I recommend going. We only had a day to explore, so I am going to give you my itinerary for a day trip to Savannah. I would mention, however, that it would be worth spending more than just one day there.
Spend time walking downtown.
When we first arrived, we just walked around taking in all the old buildings, the trees, and the shops. Channel your inner southern spirit and just go for a leisurely stroll. It will be a nice, relaxing first task for the day. Even though you only have the day, try not to rush, just take in as much as you can in your own time.
This church was a must see on my list. I really did not care what the rest of the day looked like if I got to enjoy this historical structure. 'Awesome' is a word that I think we overuse as a society, but this church fits the true description of the word awe.
You can read about the history and creation of the Cathedral by following the link.
This historic site is the home to a tunnel of oaks that are stunning. Although I would not recommend paying the fee and going through the park, the 15-minute drive from downtown was worth the view for me!
I had a lot of fun being on the other side of the camera for a change. It took me a while to warm up to posing but after a while I let loose and get some great shots!
This is my new favorite top. This floral tank represents my style so well and is really comfortable.
Pictures
This task fits in nicely with the spending time just walking around. I made sure not to rush through the day and took my time taking picture with Kellie. It is a must for us wherever we go, so we make sure that we schedule time to at least get a few good snaps in whenever we see a backdrop that strikes us!
Dinner and Dessert
Do some research before heading out since you do not have much time in the area or just keep on the lookout on your walk around town for dinner. Whenever I go somewhere new, I make it a point to try a new place to eat or at least get coffee. This way you can really experience the town. Opt for a family owned place or somewhere you have never heard of.
Me and Kellie ate at B & D Burgers before heading out of Savannah. The burgers were delicious and came at a good price. Our final stop was Mabel’s Cupcake Emporium where the desserts are delectable and affordable.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this is a fairly cheap day trip! (unless you spend a fortune on cupcakes at Mabel’s, I know I could have)
Kellie and I had a great time exploring this adorable city. So, make sure to add this town to your bucket list of places to visit and get planning!
As always, thank you for checking out my blog!
